A parent or caregiver to a child or youth with special health care needs
Please share some key areas of interest in the field of child health (for example, transition, autism, special education, etc.)
I am the parent co-chair of Early Intervention in Lancaster, Pa, so every area of child health is important to me. My daughter has been diagnosed with PDDNOS, so I am especially interested in autism and developmental delays.
If you'd like, please share a little bit about yourself and your child/children.
I am the single mother of a beautiful soon-to-be 3 year old little girl. I am currently in nursing school, the Parent Co-Chair for EI/IU13, and a volunteer counselor at the Lancaster Domestic Violence Clinic. I try to live life to the absolute fullest and consider each and every single day a privilege. My daughter is the light of my life and I truly am so thankful for being able to say I am her mom.
If you'd like, please share something fun, cool, or notable about yourself.
I am very involved throughout my community! I am a member of Early Intervention's (EI) Parent Advisory Commitee, I volunteer at various places throughout Lancaster, I work full time as a waitress, plus I am in school. If you count my daughter's four therapists and numerous weekly classes, our schedule is usually very busy! We definitely live by the "work hard, play hard" motto :)
