PA Medical Home Initiative for Parents

Hello,

I am looking for help on how to work with a "PTSD" Foster Son. My husband & I have had him now a month tomorrow (March 2nd). Our Foster Son is fun to be around with. But he just not like to do as we ask of him to making his bed, brushing his teeth, etc.....What can we do to get him to doing his chores for us as he is asked to be doing?

Thanks,
Kim

Hi, Kim, is he presently working with a therapist? If so, perhaps you could work with his therapist to set goals for him to complete certain tasks. Depending on his background, he may not ever have had much training in these tasks, how they are done, and why they are important. If he does not have a therapist, perhaps his case manager would be willing to sit down and work with you and him to set goals.

Hello, He does see a therapist. I will work with his therapist & social worker as well. Thanks for the help.
